Tennis Coaching

Rainford Tennis Club run weekly tennis coaching sessions all year round for adults and children and new players are always welcome to attend.   Bookings are made weekly on a pay-and-play basis, which means you don't have to pay for sessions that you cannot attend or that are cancelled due to bad weather.  All equipment is provided.  Click on the links below for more information and to book your place.

Meet your coaches

Sarah Hillier: Head Coach

Sarah became Head Coach in 2021 and is responsible for managing and developing the coaching and competition programme at Rainford Tennis Club.  Sarah, who lives in the village, is a fully qualified and LTA Accredited Level 3 Coach and a tournament referee with 15 years' experience coaching at indoor and outdoor venues across the North of England.  Sarah is also County Tennis Co-ordinator for Tennis Lancashire and is the coach for the Lancashire 10 & Under Girls Team.  Sarah won the Lancashire Tennis Coach of the Year Award in 2022, as part of the annual British Tennis Awards.

Sam Jalloh: Coach

Sam Jalloh is an author, tennis coach and motivational speaker and first became part of the coaching team at Rainford Tennis Club in 2009.  Sam is a fully qualified Level 3 LTA Accredited Coach with many years' experience coaching players of all standards across the world.  Sam represented his home country of Sierra Leone in the All African Games and now runs his own foundation which helps underprivileged children across Africa. Jack Parker: Assistant Coach

Jack joined the coaching team at Rainford Tennis Club at the start of the 2023 season.  Jack is an experienced Level 2 Coach and will be delivering junior and adult sessions at the Jubilee Recreation Ground as part of our weekly coaching programme.  Jack has played tennis for many years and has competed in the top divisions of both Warrington League and the Liverpool League.  Jack holds a full LTA Coach Accreditation and is available for hitting sessions with both junior and adult players.

Maisie Lavelle: Assistant Coach

Maisie has volunteered at Rainford Tennis Club for many years and officially joined the coaching team in 2021.  Maisie is a qualified LTA Level 2 Coaching Assistant and now helps with the delivery of coaching groups at the Club. Maisie is a very experienced tennis player who has competed in national tournaments, has represented Lancashire on many occasions in LTA County Cup and has won the Lancashire County Championships.  Maisie is currently studying Sports Science at Loughborough University and also competes for the university's tennis teams.

Olivia Vernazza: Assistant Coach

Olivia joined the coaching team at Rainford Tennis Club in 2023.  She is a qualified LTA Level 1 Coaching Assistant and is currently working towards her Level 2 Instructor qualification. Olivia has played tennis since she was 5 years old and has played in tournaments across the country, including representing Winstanley College in the National Schools Finals. As a junior, Olivia was part of the Lancashire County squads and is now enjoying helping with the delivery of our group coaching sessions here at Rainford.
